Dixie Lee Fried Chicken | Best Fast Food Restaurant

My wife had a craving for coconut pie after seeing a Facebook ad for Dixie Lee. We decided to give them a try. As fast food chicken can be hit and miss we were pleasantly surprised at the service and food quality! In addition to the coconut pie we ordered a 6 piece chicken and fries combo. The chicken was hot, fresh with an excellent ratio of breading to meat. The chicken itself was well seasoned and not as salty as some of the other fried chicken outlets. We also received gravy and some tasty coleslaw. My wife also ordered some spring rolls and pickled papaya. The price was reasonable, perhaps a little higher than some but the quality and service more than compensated for any price issues. Another thing to consider is that at some of the other fast food outlets, depending on when you order food, you might get chicken that's been under the heat lamp for a while and might not be fresh. Waiting for freshly made food is definitely not a problem. In terms of service, Darwisa and Henry are amazingly friendly and very patient, even with exuberant and loud kids ordering their lunch! All in all, Dixie Lee Barrie definitely deserves a 5 star rating.

Original flavour fried chicken from the east coast. Bright and clean with friendly staff and great chicken. Unfortunately no bathroom here and only a few seats but will be back again.

This is fried chicken done right 👏👏 The perfect amount of crispy skin so you can actually taste the chicken, which is deliciously seasoned. We got fries and gravy and both were made to perfection and super flavourful. So happy there’s a Dixie Lee in Barrie. Tastes exactly like I remember 25 years ago. I WILL be back, likely with my entire family because Dixie Lees are hard to come by these days and it was our all-time favourite. The staff were super friendly, they cooked our whole meal in about 10 minutes, and the atmosphere was very clean. I genuinely hope you succeed because I can’t look at other fried chicken chains the same way again! THANK YOU for helping me relive my childhood ❤️🙏😋

My husband and I decided to give Dixie Lee Chicken a try as we haven't had crispy chicken for a long time. We were welcomed by owner with a big smile. They REALLY have great crispy chicken. Their chicken has the balance between a juicy, tender interior and a golden, crunchy coating that just shatters with every bite. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and the batter clings tight to the meat, giving it that satisfying crackle. They have the best versions which brings out the chicken’s natural flavor while keeping it incredibly moist and every bite has that mouthwatering contrast of textures and tastes. I highly recommend Dixie Lee's Chicken if you are craving for some crispy chicken.

Chicken is very good and fries perfectly crispy. Great alternative to other more mainstream fried chicken chains. The store is very small and there is no bathroom so you can’t even wash your hands if you want to eat in. The staff are incredibly friendly and very nice. I would have actually rated this higher as the food was very good but the prices are so wacky you might laugh at your bill. A simple 3 chicken combo runs you $20. The family owned Korean place in the same plaza is about 20% cheaper and they load up their boxes with extra chicken every time I go there. There is room for both to exist in this plaza but the value needs to come closer together. If the prices become more reasonable I would return and increase my rating.

Chicken popcorn, chicken breast strips & chicken poutine were gone in 60 seconds. Didn't have time to take photos of the food just the empty box. 3rd degree sauce. 👍Everything was crispy & tender. Will definitely order again. 🙂

This food was incredible! Took about ten minutes and they fresh cooked all our chicken and fries fresh on the spot. The conversation with the staff was friendly and lighthearted and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I got to treat two people to trying this for the first time after bragging up how good this stuff was in the maritimes compared to Mary Browns and KFC and I have converted them both into fanatics. The fries were crisp, three skin of the chicken was wonderfully crunchy, and the meat was succulent and juicy, well cooked and not greasy at all. Hands down the best friend chicken restaurant. I WILL be returning. Many times. Gleefully. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

I went in to speak to the manager on the phone as my sister received raw chicken today at this store on her lunch from school. We simply wanted a refund (debit purchase proof and a video to prove how raw the chicken was) It’s more worrisome that they are across from a high school and the manager did not seem to care about serving raw chicken! They offered an in store credit, we respectfully declined as who wants to eat there after eating half a raw chicken sandwich? As a manager myself, I’m disgusted at the behaviour of the “Manager” that continued to call me names and just absolute pure ignorance for sticking up for my 16 year old sister as they really did not seem to care about serving RAW chicken!
