Dave's Hot Chicken

Wanted to share a scam by this restaurant. They are charging a fixed $0.39 in HST though there is not HST/GST by the government for next 2 months. Attached my receipt here. To scam customers, there are 2 HST components now: one is a tax relief and the other one is just HST which is fixed charge of $0.39 for all customers. If you don’t check your receipts, you will be all paying for the tax. Please be careful when you order.

I got two combo #3’s which has 1 tender & 1 slider with fries. One medium hot and one with no spice. The combos came with no drink which is upsetting because the combos were 22$ before tax. Food was fresh and crispy. I paid 49.66 after tax for the 2 combos and 1 drink. I found the restaurant was way too cold , I was freezing while eating. Overall I would say it is a great fried chicken spot but a tad over priced.

Loved my experience here yesterday. Mali was so nice and welcoming. He honestly deserves a raise! The food was good! I’m not the biggest fan of the Mac and cheese but everything else was so good! Thank you so much for my experience!

Read mixed reviews of this place, but after trying it, I can confirm they make a quality chicken tender. I got combo #3 which is definitely pricey for a lunch, but it was excellent. I got heat level 'Hot' which has some kick but doesn't ruin the meal. The fries were great, crispy outside & soft inside. The sauce was good but fairly typical. Overall food quality in comparison to other fast food chicken sandwiches, this has excellent taste & is not all batter or rubber chicken, you actually can tell it is chicken. If the menu options were $2-3 cheaper & the combo's included a drink, this place would be packed all the time. See my picture for the updated menu prices.

ADDICTING FLAVOUR! Not sure if it’s cause I came at a slower time but the service was very fast without comprising flavour and freshness. You know those ones where the steam is coming out of the food?? Portion was on point as well as price. Taste was addicting and makes you want more. I could probably body 10 of these easy.

Good food, Friendly staff and neat building/location. Unlike other hot chicken places I really enjoyed that this sandwich combo wasn't bathed in grease, and had a perfect level of spice (had medium and hot) Neat location in the city just off of queen street with interesting artwork and layout for seating inside the building.

This place will be my friends and family favorite fried chicken spot forever! Me and my friends are addicted to this fried chicken and cannot go without eating it for 2 weeks! It’s definitely a must too go to and it’s way better than any other fried chicken spot in Toronto.

I've had the opportunity to try Dave's hot chicken in Colorado, so when I saw it during my walk home, going in was a no brainer. Inside the leslieville location, I found that same hip vibe I remember from my first visit, but Toronto flavoured 🍁❣️ Greeted by friendly faces ready to make recommendations, I was expecting a solid food bite. What I ate exceeded any expectations. At first, for whatever reason, I got intimidated by the heat scale, deciding to go with a more balanced medium spice 😂. The chicken was amazing -heat lovers, don't be afraid to go higher-, all the toppings in the slider were perfectly balancing the chicken, the buns were nice and toasted and the pickles were a perfect touch. The fries though: dream level illegally crispy. I'm a sucker for a good fry and this was something that blew expectations off the chart. Overall, my experience was great and I am truly looking forward to my next visit, as it now feels I need to up my spice level. That chicken deserves it, and so do I 😁
