Best smoked meat in the city that I’ve tried by a long mile!!! Everything you could ask for in a good deli sandwich shop. Smoked meat was amazing and fries, pickle and slaw were all what you would hope for in an authentic deli shop. Top shelf and well worth it! I’ll be back!

Really friendly staff and the food was amazing. I got the smoked meat sandwich on an onion bun and after the first bite I was in heaven. The meat melts in your mouth and is packed with smokey flavour. I highly recommend it to anyone who is craving smokey goodness. I will definitely be going back on a regular basis.

Holy smoked meat sandwich! I know a thing or two about smoked meat. So when I tasted the Montreal Smoked meat sandwich, I knew right away this was made in-house. Perfect amount of seasoning and smoke to create a second-to-none experience. I can confidently put Dave's Genuine Deli against any deli in this city, or Montreal. Yup, that's right. I said. Take that Montreal! :D Restaurant is set up for a nice lunch or dinner, very clean and bright. Ken served us, and was very knowledgeable about the smoking process, as well as one heck of a host. What can I say, Ken's are awesome. 😎 Dave's Genuine Deli is a must try, parking is street only, but par for the course on Avenue Road.

Not a fan of the flavour. Too overwhelming smoky tasting to me as if too much liquid smoke was dropped in by mistake making it inedible for my taste. The coleslaw has a sweetness to it which isn't what I prefer in a deli coleslaw. I'll stick to Sumalicious they do it how I like it. The bread was fresh tasting which was nice and the food came up super quickly

As a native Montrealer, I was excited to try the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich at Dave’s Genuine Deli. Unfortunately, it was anything but genuine. The meat was rough, cut too thick, and heavily over-spiced. This did not resemble the authentic Montreal smoked meat I grew up with at all. The French fries were another letdown—they were so salty they were practically inedible. However, there was a saving grace: the rice pudding I ordered for dessert was pretty good and managed to end the meal on a slightly positive note. Overall, if you are looking for a true Montreal smoked meat experience, this isn’t the place to find it.

First time ordering and the description and the picture of the smoked meat sandwich are soooo wrong. Taste was OK, the size was worth $9.99 at best, in terms of quantity. Smoked meat sandwich from Pancers, twice the size, less costly. As a rule, I always give a restaurant a second chance. At these prices, can't afford it.

This place defines what a 5-star experience is. It's very clean and the food is yummy. We took a BIG sandwich for both of us, and they were kind enough to divide it into two plates. I am almost sure we both got the sides even though we only ordered a single item. The smoked beef in the sandwich was excellent. We also had some potato latkes, which were pretty good. The server was very nice and patient with us and even gave something extra to take home.

If you love outstanding food, look no further than this winner of a deli! I have eaten in pretty much every renowned deli in Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Los Angeles, as deli is one of my favourite comfort foods from my chidhood. Dave's Genuine Deli is hands down my new favourite! I am so grateful that this spot exists as I was a big fan of Yitz's on Eglinton, and when that closed it left a big hole in the deli category in the city. Chef and owner Dave Isen prepares everything in house and serves up big portions...with love. And shout out to Nick our server who was so nice and clearly enjoys his work! The whole vibe there is so cool, and chill. But not too chill as we had our food very soon after ordering! We started with the kishka in brown gravy. It was absolutely delicious, savoury, tender, and not in a casing, so it was easy to eat. And who makes fresh kishka anymore??? It was served with fresh rye bread. So good. My friend had a smoked meat on rye which was served with perfectly crispy fries, tangy coleslaw and a dill pickle. The meat was melt in your mouth. Dave prepares the meat with his own brine which was full of umami, and smokey goodness. It's elevated smoked meat! I had the Big smoked turkey club which lived up to it's name. Piles of tender turkey, crispy bacon, on a grilled onion bun! Grilling the bun takes the sandwich to a whole other level. It was so good I had to bring one home for my husband (and fellow foodie) who loved it! The service was so good, the atmosphere is well lit, clean, cozy and inviting. Oh, and Dave could not have been nicer! We chatted about all things deli, and he even gave us samples of some of their amazing soups. Split pea and cabbage soup. I will try to chicken matzoh ball with kreplach the next time I go which will be soon! My deli dreams have come true again thanks to Dave's Genuine Deli! So grateful, and hungry again just writing this. Yum!
