This spot has been a neighborhood staple for a couple of decades and is one of the original locations that helped lay the foundation for what eventually became the Congee Queen empire. The menu is nearly identical to what you’d find at CQ, and the consistency in quality across all their locations is a testament to why they’ve been so successful. On this visit, we ordered Singapore Noodles (extra spicy), 6 Grain Fried Rice, Spicy Salt Squid, and Stir-Fried Green Beans with Olives and Ground Pork—classic Cantonese favorites that never fail to deliver. One thing that always stands out is the unmistakable “wok hei”—the smoky aroma and flavor that’s a hallmark of great Cantonese stir-frying. Each dish arrived piping hot, perfectly seasoned, and prepared with care. After 30 years of dining at their various locations, I can confidently say we’ve never had a bad meal here. The portions are generous, and the prices remain very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for both casual meals and family gatherings. Pro tip—bring cash for an extra 10% off your bill! This place continues to prove why it’s a cornerstone of the local dining scene and a go-to spot for authentic Cantonese comfort food.

Last Saturday, we went to Congee Wong, located at Finch and Leslie Square, for lunch, and ordered three dishes including a dish of Deep Fried Sea Bass with Secret Sauce (refer to photo #1 from the menu). As you know, sea bass is a luxury seafood, which should has a mild and delicate flavour, and meatier quality than any other fishes. However, we were extremely disappointed with such a dish which was substituted with some other cheap fatty fish. We only tasted the dish at the time but didn't finish it. The photo #2 attached shows a big uneatable portion (fish bone and skin) of the fish from the dish we didn't finish but brought home. We condemn this dishonest business practice and hope you will not become the second victim.

Pretty good place. I like it because it feels more friendly and less fancy than Congee Queen. The food is very similar, I think it’s the same company. A new special menu just came out - with innovative dishes like special mushrooms, rice noodle roll with beef and truffle flavour. Good job to the chefs for creating new dishes! The prices are still Ok, they’ve gone up a lot since the pandemic but it’s still affordable for me. I have come here with many friends and the food is consistently fresh and tasty. Thank you Congee Wong, you make my life so much better. However, I find the servers a bit slow or inattentive at times but that might be because I eat alone often, during off peak hours. They have a great deal between 3-5 pm weekdays where there’s a special menu and you get either a HK milk tea, lemon tea, or red bean with ice cream drink free. I think people get the red bean with ice cream a lot in that weekday afternoon special. It’s very worth it. Everything else is fine.

I haven't been to this place in years and it was a delight to eat here. The food was delicious especially the salted fish fried rice and the seafood congee. We also ordered the cauliflower with Chinese sausage which was nice and light. Overall, nice food.

Congee Wong will always have a nostalgic place in my heart since it is one of the original restaurants my parents would take me to growing up. The food is pretty solid and portions are massive. Most dishes are between $15-20 with each dish enough to serve more than one person. We ordered four dishes for four people and took a large amount of leftovers home. Servers here were very nice and friendly and the atmosphere is a nice mix of booths and tables with a lot of space. Parking right in front of the restaurant can be a bit of a pain but if you're able there is a really big parking lot behind the building.

Always busy. Great portions for price. Would be perfect if servers are more responsive but overall it’s not a deal breaker.

We ordered three dishes, first one came out in less than 5 minutes. It was nice to start eating right away but some may be concerned about how freshly made the dish was. The food was affordable with large portions, but the taste was below average. Brought home leftovers for my gfs parents who are Chinese, and they were absolutely roasting it.
