Just got home from dining here and we, husband and myself, really enjoyed the food. We ordered the following: 1) Brazilian cheese puffs: order had 3 pieces. I wasn't a big fan of it but it was okay. 2) Corn bread: order had about 4 pieces and they were delicious. 3) Firecracker shrimps: order had 4 pieces and was delicious. 4) Blackened fish of the day (I think it was Basa fish), very delicious. 5) Curried lamb, very delicious. 6) Tres leches was just the cherry on top of our fantastic meal. Service was very quick (we were there with our newborn) and our server (the AZN guy, who is also the bartender) was super chill, kind and accommodating to our needs. Definitely coming back here with a bigger group.

I will never return to this restaurant. I will never recommend this restaurant. It’s just another trendy, over rated, overpriced restaurant downtown Toronto with mediocre bland food and terrible service. Let me tell you why…. I went to Conejo Negro with a group of 9 people for a friend’s birthday celebration. The reservation was for 10pm. We arrived 2 minutes after 10pm. The table was not ready when we arrived. We were then told to wait outside until our table was ready. The woman in the picture put us in an alley way where it was cold and dark. It wasn’t until another waitress came and told to wait on the heated patio. We sat and waited for 20 minutes. The waitress then asked if we wanted to be seated outside since our table wasn’t ready. Her tone was very rude and passive aggressive. She showed a lot of frustration towards my friend explaining that the people before us arrived late for their reservation, and was still waiting for them to leave. 40 minutes later we were finally seated inside. We had a preordered menu so we got our food pretty quickly. First we had the corn bread. Which was pretty good. It was soft, moist and flavourful. One of my friends lovedddd it and said it was the best corn bread she ever tried. We also had the Caesar salad. It was okay. Nothing special. Second out were the chicken wings which were described to have a weird taste and not a table favourite. Third was the squash dumplings. Some friends loved it. Others hated it and described it as tasting like dough with sauce. Some friends didn’t like that it had cheese on it. Fourth was the jerk chicken. I didn’t try it but it was the tables favourite dish. The pumpkin rice was the tables least favourite dish. It was dry with a very weird taste. There was no love put into that rice. It tasted like left overs from 4 days ago. The “Macaroni pie” was my biggest disappointment. Some liked it, some didn’t. I hated it. It’s a disgrace to even call this macaroni pie. There were mountains of bread crumbs on top, with I think was nacho cheese (the liquid one you get from the movie theatre) mixed in with the macaroni and maybe other types of cheese. Conejo Negro, what a disappointment. Another WACK restaurant that takes ethnic, Caribbean food and ruins it, like so many other restaurants around downtown Toronto.

Can’t rave enough of how amazing this place is! No wonder they won a Michelin Bib Gourmand in less than a year of opening! Visited for the first time in the summer for my girlfriend’s birthday and had to return with my husband so he could try it. He loved it so much that we decided to host my husband’s staff X-mas dinner this past week. We were a group of 9 people and had a set menu at $80 pp. The menu was 3 courses with a total of 9 dishes to share (chosen ahead of time) Food came out fast & more than enough food to go around. All the dishes were so delicious. Some faves were the firecracker shrimp, cheese puffs, creole Caesar & braised beef. Owners are incredibly hospitable & attentive. A must try if you love a fusion of Caribbean, Latin American & Creole food!

One of the best value + quality places on the entire Michelin guide. I can see why they earned a place on the list after less than a year of opening. The entire menu is so well priced. I.e. $20 for a fantastic fried chicken main. You will leave feeling satisfied, full and feeling like you got a great bang for your buck.

Loved loved loved everything about it! Drinks were excellent. But watered down. We had the Wray and Ting and the El Diablo. Delish! All the food was excellent! Loved the Brazilian cheese balls and the mac. Okra was nice. Fried chicken was freshly made. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Caribbean braised beef was melt in your mouth good! Grilled pineapple and beet salad was delish! I will definitely be back to eat the rest of the menu!!

SO FLAVOURFUL AND MEMORABLE. The food was so delicious, with bold flavours and interesting textures. Their patio had a really nice atmosphere too, with string lights and greenery. Honestly, the food was so good I felt like the world paused and I was in awe. We got the Brazilian cheese puffs, tuna and shrimp ceviche, and I got the Carribean style braised beef as my main. The Brazillian cheese puffs don't look that special but it was perfectly savoury and had a bouncy, chewy texture. The ceviche was fresh and had bright flavours. The Carribean style braised beef was incredibly tender and had a great combination of elements. My boyfriend got the curried lamb and he really enjoyed it, I just found it very spicy but that's because I can't handle too much spice. Overall, I would highly recommend this place! It dwells on my mind and I can't wait to go back!

Absolutely LOVE this place! The ambiance is fantastic, and the food is delectable. We got shrimp tacos & ceviche as appetizers, and jerk chicken and braised beef for our mains, and each item was delicious! Definitely recommend.

Came here for the first time to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We had reservations and were running late so we called the restaurant to inform them of this and they told us they would hold our table since they knew we were coming but they wouldn’t be able to push back other reservations which we totally understood. When we arrived we were sat at a table that was right beside the door to go downstairs to the bathrooms. The door kept opening and slamming behind me so we asked if we would be able to switch tables and one of the servers accommodated our request and sat us at a table in the back. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, cornbread, braised beef, blackened fish, macaroni pie, grilled okra, and sticky banana rum cake. All of this food was amazing and we were raving to each other about how good it was. We did come across an incident at the end of dinner in which I noticed a cockroach crawling on the wall but I tried to brush it off to avoid disgusting my boyfriend after this meal. A few moments later he told me to get up from my seat and when I turned there was a cockroach on the booth I was sitting on. The waiter did not handle this situation properly and I still paid full price for the meal. After paying I went to put my wallet in my bag and the cockroach/another roach had crawled in/on my bag then fell to the table. I brought this situation to the attention of one of the owners and he assured me it would be dealt with promptly and offered to make us accommodations and to have a meal on them. He has reached out to verify that a treatment has been implemented to prevent this situation from occurring again.
