Colombo lounge

We visited this place for the first time with great hopes of having Sri Lankan food but we were disappointed with food. Vibe and the service were good. We ordered Kottu, egg hoppers, roast pan with katta sambol and pol sambal. Nothing was authentic Sri Lankan food. Kottu had only roti, some vegetables and eggs. It also had a sour taste like tomato ketchup. That was no way near Sri Lankan/Colombo kottu. Egg hoppers was fairly ok but not like the ones we have had in Sri Lanka. Roast pan was too rigid and were not edible. They charge $2.50 for a tiny bit of pol sambol and $1.50 tiny bit of katta sambol. Also, those had no taste. It was not katta sambol, it was onion chopped with chilli and Maldivian fish. They are a little bit expensive. It is ok to charge a premium price but the product offered should match with it. This was a great disappointment.

It was our first time visiting this place. After seeing the Kala Kavaya program, I was eager to visit Colombo Lounge. The reservation was made for 7pm on April 27th and we got there before 7:15pm. Upon arrival, one of the female server came to us and we gave the name the reservation was made under. At the same time the owner came to the front stood behind the female server, yet didn’t even bother to greet us. As we were standing and waiting, the owner walked away and went to check out an empty table. Soon after, another male server came to us and asked if we had made a reservations. We gave the information again and he went and talked to the owner and we were taken to the empty table where the owner was standing before. So we thought he was making sure the table was ready for us🤞. The male server gave us the menus and said we have to order from that menu. It had four categories (drinks, appetizers, dinner, desserts) costing &59.99 per person and we were told to select one item from each category. My children were given the same menu, which had wine, beer as drink choices lol. My husband had to request kids menu for them 🤦🏽‍♀️. When the reservation was made a week prior, we were told after 9pm we would have to order from the fixed menu, which was $59.99. Since we made the reservation for 7pm we could order from the regular menu but the server was explaining how we would have to order from the fixed menu. He said he has to clarify with the chef then he brought the regular menus for us to order. Drinks were very colourful and the calamari + spinach dip with tortillas was good. Most of us had the Mango Bellini etc. we ordered veggie kottu, mutton kottu, veggie noodles, seafood rice, and chicken fried rice. Food was good except the kottu quite didn’t have the authentic taste. However, the food was brought to us by another female server. She brought the veggie kottu, chicken fried rice, and the mutton kottu at first (as shown on the pictures.) we thought she’s gonna come back with the plates but no luck. So after 10 minutes we asked the same female server for plates to eat. She said “okay” and left never came back with plates. We waited about another 5 minutes before one person got up and went to a server and asked for plates. Still no plates and the food was getting cold. During this whole time we can clearly see the server we asked for plates was clearing other tables and serving drinks. 20 minutes had passed and finally the same person got up and went and grab the last four side plates from where they kept plates (just by the hallway to the washroom.) We were 9 people and a toddler trying to share four side plates to eat dinner 🤷🏻‍♀️. 20 minutes since the first three dishes arrived we finally got the veggie noodles and the seafood rice 😂, yet no plates to eat with. I got fed up so I got up and walked right by the kitchen doorway and asked another female server that we need plates, which now the third time we’ve asked them. She said ok and turned around and went into the kitchen. I came back to the table thinking she would come back with plates. Guess what!!! No plates🙅🏻‍♀️. Finally we were able to caught the male servers attention who had been bartending since he took our order. Once we told him, we finally got more SIDE plates but by now our three dishes were cold. Anyways, we didn’t wanna bother with it so we just used those side plates to eat dinner lol. The white plate in the picture was my side plate (it may look bigger on the picture but was bit bigger than a saucer.) As a fellow Sri Lankan, we came to support Colombo Lounge and to have a good time. I am not trying to criticize your business but the level of service we received was substandard. At the beginning, community talked so highly of this place and we heard that it was packed. But I guess people see the quality they receive as customers and weigh their options accordingly. Applaud to Hits Band as we enjoyed the music. My personal opinion is there should be a dedicated server for each section and a bartender.

My honest review about this place. This is what happened when me and two friends visited this place on April 27th. We went there to support Sri Lankan artists and businesses and to celebrate a special moment. Arriving around 10:30 pm, we found the place manned by 4 servers, 1 bartender, and what appeared to be a manager. Our experience began with a series of unexpected surprises. 1. As we perused the menu, and when we about to order another server presented us with a special menu, informing us today there is a new rule that the bills should be atleast $60 per person. This sudden disclosure caught us off guard, especially since it wasn't mentioned during our reservation. When we inquired about the terms, we were told it applied to all tables, regardless of seating location. As per her this rule applied even to people who sit at the bar, which seemed unfair. We decided to go along with it as we do not want to spoil our special ngiht. (Rolleyes) 2. It's disappointing that such crucial information wasn't conveyed via their social media channels or during the reservation process. Despite their claim of informing all the guests who made the reservation later, I never received any such notification. 3. The food came on time at first, but we had to wait for desserts till 1 .10 am . We couldn't find any servers to ask for help. The night was almost done at that time. Only 2 tables left and they were too having concerns about their bills. 4. By midnight, most of the servers had left, leaving one person to serve a lot of guests. We felt bad for her. She was managing 15-20 people by herself. 5. Finally, dessert was served. We were given a small piece of watalappan. Seriously? We paid $60 per person for this? I asked the server to check if there were more watalappan available because it seemed like that was the only piece left. The bartender later brought two more pieces, apologizing for the mistake. If I hadn't asked the server to check, we might never have received the correct amount. 6. We asked to speak to the manager, but the bartender said he is the manager. He didn't help us much. It seemed like the real manager wasn't there or the real manager forcefully sent him to resolve the problem. 7. The absence of effective management left us questioning the integrity of the operation. Can it be believed that the entire evening was overseen by a server, a bartender, and a chef? Many Sri Lankan people (their main TG) probably won't come back after what happened on April 27th. we may not return to COLOMBO LONUGE we'll certainly continue to enjoy their music elsewhere. On a special note, many tables had concerns regarding their bills and this ridiculous and not worthy $60 price cap. However, amidst the chaos, we must appreciate the band for their exceptional performance. I am sure their night also ruined because of the ridiculous pricing strategy on that day by the restaurant.

We went for night chill.we booked table advanced after we went only they mention per person need to be order $60 and gave A4 photocopy print out withe menu set. When we enter there is three servers, after few mins they left only one girl doing service. Food orders took more than a hour and we never received dessert for more than three hours. Manger / Owner not even caring about customers. prawns fry portions 4 piece of prawns (image attached ) Worst service, don't spoil Srilanka hospitality with the country name. Worst place ever went for dinning

Love the food here! The Chef Nilanthi her cooking is top notch. The black pork curry reminds me of home how our mom's make it back home. Highly recommend the black pork curry with roast paang and pol sambol. The Colombo kottu was a massive portion and top notch in authentic Sri Lankan flavors.

Went for Karaoke night last Friday and we all had a really amazing time. We ordered all Srilankan appetizers and mains, and I must say that all the food was really flavourful. The cheese kottu was perfect and they certainly didn’t skimp on the meat or veggies. The place had a really great vibe. The staff were super friendly and always looking to help. Loved it. We, friends had dinner inside couple times. I enjoyed the food, different items from the menu. The service was very good, waitresses were friendly & polite. I enjoyed the Karaoke very much. Music excellent. I like to visit Colombo Lounge often. Good luck Colombo Lounge
