I got the Portuguese tart and coconut tart. I had already purchased my tart from Paddington but since this is branded as "Portuguese cuisine," I wanted to come the tarts since MOST OF THE BAKERIES AT ST.LAWRENCE ARE SELLING THESE TARTS. Well, I enjoyed the tart from Paddington more. They were both good but the custard in that was not as smooth and spiced and Paddington. The coconut tart is very moist and has a balanced sweetness. There is not really much of a coconut taste but you can feel the coconut flakes that are used, so yes there is coconut but it just is not strong. The texture is also a bit chewy, not what I expected but enjoyable nonetheless. Give this place a try and eat right way! Best when fresh, if you lucky :)

Beyond the fact that the food is pretty darn good, I called this place just about 15 minutes after they closed, someone picked up my call and I explained my spouse was craving Portuguese chicken. He prepared a meal and waited another 20 minutes for us to pick it up. Incredible, old school service!

loved the egg tart the first time, went back got 6 today and they were soggy and cold, even after heated up the pastry base was like chewing leather and had a old oily taste feel like they gave me a day old batch because when i ordered, the cashier just went behind the counter grabbed a pre packed box, not from the display tray. won’t go back again.

Came by for Pateis de Nata and it was awesome!!!! Crisp and thin pastry. Custard was creamy and sweet.

Ordered a quarter chicken dinner with potatoes and rice and it was recommended that we get the sauce that comes with it. I am so glad I listened to the person who helped us, because it was delicious! We also ordered two Portuguese tarts from there and they were crunchier than these other Portuguese tarts we tried downstairs in st. Lawrence market. The tarts tasted good, however not sure if we would get them again. Although, 1000% going back there whenever I am downtown nearby for the chickenn

Heard about the legendary Portuguese chicken of St Lawrence Market for a while, so when I finally came for a visit, I just had to try it. The proprietor was gracious and generous with his recommendation. I decided to order quarter chicken dark meat to go, with rice and potatoes. Finally, two Portuguese tarts would round up the order. Frankly, the chicken looked a bit dry to me, so I was bracing myself for disappointment. However, it took one bite to change my mind. The chicken was tender and juicy, with good flavour on their own. The proprietor highly recommended eating the chicken with the sauce that came with it, and I heartily agree; the sauce added a little kick to the dish, and made the meat more moist and pleasant. I separated the sauce because I wanted to eat it with my dogs, but next time I would let the proprietor slather the sauce all over the chicken while serving. I have mixed feelings about the tart, but for Portuguese egg tarts outside Portugal, it's not bad. I did come close to end of day, and the tarts may have been sitting outside all day, but they are good complement to the Portuguese chicken dish.

I really liked this place. The Portuguese custard tarts were done right unlike Eve’s Temptations in the basement. These were fresh, the custard in the middle was smooth and melted right in my mouth. I regret not buying like a dozen of these. Cost of one was very cheap. Service was attentive and friendly. You just walk up, order, and then find a seat somewhere in the market. There was no line when I ordered and that was on a Saturday morning.

I’ve had their custard tarts maybe too many times now. I can attest they are always warm and crunchy. The dough is so flaky and it’s always a treat to go and say hello to such nice people.
