Churchills Fish & Chips

Visited for the first time recently over the lunch hour. A friend & I both ordered the halibut & chips from the lunch menu. Generous portion. Batter on fish was very light & tasty. Great chips. Would have been nice to know upfront that it is cash only, perhaps put a sign on the door / window? There is an ATM within the restaurant but I imagine there is a hefty fee associated with using it. Luckily I had enough cash on me to pay.

Went in to try this place. Customer service was ok. It was busy so understandable. Ordered my food, food was ready and no payment forms except cash. Nowhere is that indicated "cash only", then had to use there over priced ATM machine. Red Flag. Came home food smelled great family was excited. Ordered the steak on a Keiser (was tasteless and they didn't follow instructions) Ordered the gyro on a bun, I almost threw up from the awful taste that was mixed with oil and fish. Gyro are on a skewer not in a deep fryer. They obviously never made gyros before. Ordered the Chicken Souvlaki on a bun well if I was a health inspector I would have shut the place down. The chicken was moldy and smelled like something died. They tried hiding it with so much onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. That the taste was unbearable and disgusting. I gave it a 1 star because the wings and fries where the only thing edible on the menu. Unfortunatly I will not be returning to this shop at the fear of saminella poisoning. I am sure there fish and chips is good but not taking a chance.

Absolutely amazing fish and chips! My family and I decided to order take out for lunch and we called to place our order. The food was fresh and really good, the fish tasted really fresh and didn’t have any bad fishy taste that can occur from frozen/not fresh fish. We got four orders of the 2 piece haddock and chips plus their chicken nuggets and fries. They gave us lots of sauce for our order and everything was nicely packaged. Only thing to note is that they only take cash. Still fantastic food and service.

Amazing classic fish and chips that has not one out of style. The original battered mushroom is a great side choice. Simple, delicious and served in style. Great people here. Would recommend to anyone.b

$5.99 for popcorn fish and chips was an amazing deal! I didn’t have the time to sit and dine in, but I hope to in the future. The two ladies (one took the order and the other was cooking) were incredibly kind and friendly. I just moved to Oshawa and am really impressed by people’s kindness here. In terms of the food, the portion and temperature were great. The taste was amazing. I loved how crispy the fish and chips were. I am looking forward to coming back and trying their other menu items :) PS, cash only. They have an ATM inside if needed.

We visited Churchills again and I have to say the service was excellent as usual. We didn't have to wait long at all for the food and the servings were much more than we expected. We will definitely come back again. The restaurant was very clean and the ataff were so warm and welcoming. Honestly. I love fish and chips and so if you do too I highly recommend this place. You can see in my photo that the portions are AMAZING. Thank you!!!! We both had two pieces of fish and a truck load of fries. You'll be full when you leave and I'm a big guy.

Price is absolutely incredible for 4 halibut and chips which feeds the whole family. Big pieces and tastes great. Note that they take cash only. The store itself needs a major facelift but who cares if the food is good, clean environment and we're eating it at home anyway. I love supporting family run businesses who truly have tasty food and prices.
