Got some homemade wasabi. It is amazing. The texture and tastes are so nice totally worth it. Can literally taste how it was grinded out. Also the seasoning is just right.

Fish was fresh and got to eat take right in front of the chef. Food was prepared quickly but a little bit rough around the edges, however the most important part was the fresh fish. Went for lunch and ordered the Big Otoro roll and the daily special. Dined in and no one else was there on a Monday lunch which is expected. Place was clean and stocked with lots of take out ingredients. Don't think I need to come back here, yes it's fresh but being a downtown body, Kitaya ( l beside C&C near the science center) is a better option and taste equally as fresh. Plus they have great hojicha ice cream there.

I love sushi and I grew up eating it. I've experienced from a wide range of quality and I have to say, Chi SAN Sushi is up there. We chose 7 kinds of fishes and one sweet shrimp and requested they slice it for us. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Compared to the prices in Montreal, this is a great deal! We even got to taste some expensive fishes like Toro tuna and even fish liver. But my favorite has to be that beautiful and incredibly delicious bento box (105$). It has uni, mackerel, salmon roe, tuna and more along with well seasoned rice. Truly a box of jewel. I only have praise for this place and highly recommend it! Freshness and quality guaranteed.

A Very high standard sushi restaurant. The sashimi is very fresh with lot of choices. Set lunch is only $35. Chou San Sushi is one of my favourite restaurants in town. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

The most ginormous Otoro roll I've ever had! Saw it my friend's IG, and couldn't resist ordering some for ourselves for tonight's dinner! I've actually had their Omakase Box ($100) before and the sushi and fish was really fresh! Highly recommend ^^ For dinner, we ordered: Big Otoro Roll ($90) Sashimi Tray ($30) Tamago Egg Omelet ($6) I DM'd Cho San Sushi on IG to order the Big Otoro Roll or you can call in to place your order. The sashimi tray and tamago were pre-packaged and ready to go in the self-serve fridges... just help yourself and pay at the counter!

Best take out sushi we've had in Toronto so far. We pre-ordered 2 omakase sets for NYE. No waiting in lines, we just popped into the spotless shop, and the staff had our order ready for us. They also appeared to have some very nice looking uni available for sale in their fridges. Every piece was good, standouts for me were the ebi, uni and ika. Normally these pieces are so mediocre at other Toronto shops. It is extremely hard to get quality uni in Toronto. Prospective sushi enthusiasts should note that the chef uses are much higher amount of vinegar in the shari, however I find this quite refreshing, as it is similar to what I have enjoyed at top sushiya in Japan. Will I be returning? Absolutely.

Cho San Sushi is a new sushi establishment on Woodbine, in the same plaza as Cafe n One. Chef Zhang, former sushi chef of Zen Sushi (a high end premium sushi restaurant) became well known over the pandemic for making premium omakase sushi boxes ordered via Instagram. With the popularity of the online business, Cho San now has a physical space with beautiful wooden interiors. Fridges with a large selection of fish imported from Japan line one wall of the space. You can order sushi off their menu or select sashimi grade fish by weight from the fridge, and watch as they prepare your food behind the plexiglass enclosed, open concept sushi prep counter. Maki options are more limited than other sushi places. You won’t find Dragon Rolls or Rainbow Rolls here. Unique to Cho San is that they offer is a premium chirashi box and omakase takeout box ($100 each). Although steep in price for a takeout order, this includes otoro and similar premium fish. We selected a ready made sashimi tray ($28) from the fridge and ordered a spider salmon roll ($8; which was probably meant to read Spicy salmon roll as there wasn’t soft shell crab as one would expect in a spider roll). The sashimi was really really fresh! The scallop and shrimp were deliciously sweet. The spicy salmon roll was made with what looked like brown rice, but more likely it was seasoned. As such it didn’t hold together as well and grains of rice fell off the maki as we picked pieces up from the tray. For you uni lovers, they have a great selection of uni from Japan, Vancouver and Boston. Their soy sauce comes in cute little bottles rather than packets. It is really exciting to have another high quality place to buy fresh, high quality sashimi in Markham and we will definitely come back for more!
