Quick informal mala pot style restaurant. Mostly self serve. They have goose intestine and pig brain if that’s your thing!! Would return at one or another. The pig brain was really yummy, well cooked (boiled). Was just perfect tenderness and the mala sauce matched it perfectly. The mala pot was yummy as expected. The chicken knee soft bone was just plain deep fried and then put on a skewer. Not much effort put into this dish. Place was average cost, not expensive. $65 for 2 but we didn’t really hold back. Cash is 5% discount. No need for tip at this place, but it’s always nice to leave one.

A great place for you if you are craving for spicy food. I love the taste of Tom Yum Gong Soup, the price is fair, you can choose all the ingredients by yourself then measure the weight to get the prices of your dishes. Don’t expect they have a very good service as it mostly self-service(but I’m totally fine) will definitely come back

Came here for dinner because I was craving hot pot. There is a self served bar that has all the common hot pot ingredients. After loading up two plates, I chose their spicy hot pot broth at medium spice level. This is one of the best versions of the dish I found in GTA. The marinated beef is really tender and flavourful. It doesn't just taste like the broth, but slightly spicy and savoury with some saucy flavour that was added through the marinating process. Most of the ingredients are rather quality and fresh. For example, the lunch meat is typically starchy, but they use a premium version that is more meaty. Most importantly, the ingredients are all cooked to the right doneness with nothing over cooked. The lamb slices are still tender, fried tofu are still intact, vegetables are still slightly crisp and the tender tofu absorbed just the right amount of the broth without becoming too soft. However, I would not recommend any absorbent food from the bar. They absorbed too much of the water while sitting there, such that they have some "fridge" flavour. As of Dec 3, 2024, you can add $4 for unlimited rice and ice jelly. I am very happy to have found this place. Can't wait to come back again.

Very fun and tasty! I really enjoyed the self-serve method, pick all the ingredients you like. Be careful not to go crazy, your eyes can be bigger than your stomach! Loved the spice level, I think medium level for the gansu malaton is great for a flavourful level of spiciness. Fun hidden gem!

The food was good but the soup bases were a bit limited for spiciness levels. There wasn’t much service since it was more of a “serve yourself” except for the cashier and the waiter for the soup. The atmosphere was really cute, but the reason why I gave it 4 stars was because the chairs hurt 😭 The back was a bit hard and you can’t lean back, but asides from that, it was really nice. Very filling as well. Highly recommend!

Recently discovered this gem and it was sooo yummy! Great option if you don't want AYCE hotpot and want something more casual. Loved that everything is by weight so you can order as much or as little as you want! I got the spicy peanut butter with soup and it was so good. The peanut butter sauce combined with the kick of spice was the perfect combo. If you can't tolerate spice definitely ask them for little spicy, or choose one of the non spicy soup bases. Definitely my new go to malatang resto!

Service is fast but we had to wait 30+ minutes to get a table here. We personally didn’t like the taste of Malatang. It’s ok nothing special or different. There’s plenty of parking available in front of restaurant and overall an ok experience. If you are really craving for a Malatang then you won’t be disappointed. Medium spicy is good spicy for asian taste :)

I was a bit disappointed with the Mala soup base the second time I tried it. I think the level of spiciness may have been the issue. If it were spicier, it would probably taste better with more chilli oil. Also, I really enjoy the ‘Tianshui’ Mala soup base, which is so flavorful. One more thing, the beef tripe was overcooked and hard to chewy. During my first visit, I was impressed with the aroma of the chilli soup base. The chilli oil is amazing and smells so good, making it taste like I'm in China. However, I can't get used to the sesame soup base, which is too creamy. Anyway, I will definitely come back and look forward to trying more.
