Chef 88 Oriental Cuisine

Stopped by at 9pm, this place was not even half full. But took staffs near 15 mins to take my order. Was exacted to see this 味菜牛柳絲 (Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/Pickled Green) super rare dish on their menu. However, this is by far the worst dish I’ve tried in Toronto. There was only few pickled veggies and few slices of beef there, tasted was nothing close to the real dish. Low quality and not authentic. Just avoid this restaurant for good.

Chef 88 hit all the right notes on dishes our family ordered for a classic Cantonese meal. I especially enjoyed the crispy oysters that were so delicious. The imitation fish maw soup was also savoury and umami. The BBQ chicken was also decently flavorful. Prices here are average for the quality despite being in Scarborough. The restaurant decor is fairly average as well so I wouldn’t say this is a high-end spot to impress guests and families. More of a staple for regulars although we haven’t been back.

Nice place for a family gathering dinner with a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes! Plenty of choices for everyone to enjoy. Make sure to call ahead and ask for their special deals. Good service too!

Nice to be there in a weekday night, in the back, where the big tables are. We had two tables. Spacious room, clean. Great service, and great quality. Would definitely go back!

Worth trying once, but probably not more. Crispy chicken doesn't smell good, really crispy though. Stir fried seafood/vegetables was good. The tea which is served with the food is relaxing and tastes good.

They had us in the back which is through a maze like corridor. There was a 3 table party happening so it was insanely noisy so we couldn't barely talk or hear anything. Made for a unpleasant social because we couldn't really chat with the visiting family members at all. Food was decent and the staff were really quick up clear dishes away. They give you a complimentary soup and dessert which was good. But I don't think I'd go back anytime soon because it's not easy to relax and enjoy the company of the people you go there with.
