Cause & Effect - Bar & Lounge

One of the worst restaurant experiences. Place was empty. took 20min for drinks. 40 min for apps. The shrimp we got was definitely spoiled, smelled terrible. Nachos over priced and cooked on paper that disintegrated right into them. Seems like the place for locals to drink and cause a scene.

My waitress Ana was an amazing person. She not only took care of our orders, she always had the best suggestions for what we wanted. If I owned a bar I would poach her.

We had a great experience at Cause and effect. Destiny was our server and she was very patient and knowledgeable. Food was delicious and the festive drinks were so good. We will be back. Thank you!

Came in here last night around 11:30 and no one greeted us at the door, so we had to find our own seats at the bar. We were originally going to have some drinks and food to eat but quickly changed our minds. There was an aggressive man that was clearly over served alcohol and creating a VERY scary environment for everyone else around the bar. To the bartender’s defence, she tried to kick him out but didn’t do a very good job as he kept returning back, until he finally left. We had to wave down the bartender to place an order and was never checked on at ANY point during our time. When the food eventually arrived, I asked for the bill right away, as we felt really uncomfortable on what we just witnessed. When she dropped the machine I gave her enough to cover her tip out, but nothing more. She then quickly swiped the machine back without even acknowledging us and attended back to what it felt like… everyone else. I‘ve been a server for years, and I understand what is in FOH control and what isn’t. The bar seemed chaotic and not in control. Sober, paying guests were overlooked. Intoxicated people were not dealt with properly and it created a scary environment. More surprisingly, she didn’t even seem to care what was happening around her bar.

We had a girl's night planned and the birthday girl decided to choose cause and effect. I've been before and have enjoyed the food and this time it was the same experience. The place was pretty quiet inside as we had at 8 PM reservation. So when the waitress sat as close to a door that was open to the patio I didn't think anything of it but as it got darker it got pretty cold sitting there. The waitress could have easily placed us at another table like I said it was pretty empty inside so I was a bit surprised she placed us so close to the patio and it was cool that night. She was very friendly and polite but did forget to bring over the vinegar to the table for my best friend which isn't a huge deal but it wasn't busy so I'm not sure how it managed to slip her mind. But she was a great server all in all. I had the cause-and-effect crispy chicken sandwich with fries also for a starter we had the 5 cheese spinach dip and the brussel sprouts. I don't drink alcohol but my friends ordered some drinks and they were a bit slow with getting them. I'll say again the place wasn't busy so I don't understand how some of the things were a little off with the service. My boyfriend ordered the chicken Caesar salad as her main and then my best friend ended up getting the chicken wings with fries and veggies with blue cheese. Asking my friends they all enjoyed their meals as well. Will definitely be back when it's a bit warmer so we can enjoy the beautiful patio and try some other things off the menu.

From the moment, my girlfriend and I walked in, we knew we were in good hands for our girls night out! Our server Line was fantastic, she was attentive, personable, and even gave us good recommendations on drinks and menu items. We ordered the blue margarita, the butterfly effect, a few shots, the bang, bang, shrimp, bruschetta, steak and bacon carbonara. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! However, the highlight was definitely the drinks in the atmosphere, the music that was playing made for the perfect girls night out! The vibe was amazing and everyone was so nice and welcoming. Is definitely one of my favourite places for a girls night or a dinner date. I would 100% recommend this to anybody looking for a place to try the stony Creek/Hamilton area!

We went with a large group and they were very accommodating and took into consideration our time restraints that we had for an event we had to go to. The staff were very pleasant and the menu was varied. I shared the big Mac tacos and traditional tacos. The big Mac ones were delicious but the regular ones we chose chicken and it was a little dry and the tortillas were a little tough. Other than that it was a great experience!
