Calypso Hut 1

As a half-Guyanese person whose favourite cuisine is Chinese, I am sorry to say that the food here is not worth the money. We ordered around $170 worth of food and only one dish had flavour which was the Szechuan Beef. The rest of the food that we ordered was bland and oily. I also find it slightly strange that this restaurant is advertised as a Guyanese Chinese restaurant and yet they are serving traditionally Chinese dishes, including Hakka and Szechuan. Regardless, if you are looking for good Chinese food, I think you might be better off trying a real Chinese restaurant. We tried a wide range of dishes at Calypso Hut 1 so I feel confident in not recommending this restaurant.

I love this restaurant. I always go during lunch time and get their lunch special and it's SO worth it! Their portions are huge and i'm only paying 9$ for the entire plate. Their chow mein and fried rice is so tasty and I love their fried crispy chicken. It's a great spot in Vaughan and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for good, affordable Guyanese food

After many take out orders I finally got to sit down and enjoy a meal at Hut 1 with the family. Food was tasty, cocktails were great and the service staff was excellent. Can’t get better than that!! Ok maybe a few more vegetarian dishes but jokes aside you need to check out this Guyanese Chinese spot in Vaughan.

Honestly, I'm really happy we came and gave this place a try. Our entire experience was great! We got the pepper shrimp ($18), hut wings ($15), fries ($6.75) and mixed chow mein ($17.50). Every single thing we got was clearly made fresh to order and SO flavourful too. And although we ordered a decent amount of fried food, nothing was overly greasy which was a huge plus for us. We especiallyyyy loved their hut wings and pepper shrimp. Their pepper sauce, which seems homemade, was also really good and comes very spicy. We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ playing music which was a nice little vibe for the weekend. And all the servers were super friendly, didn’t rush us, and checked in just enough. No complaints at all, we'll definitely be back!!

Yummy food. Inside is newly renovated, lounge vibes! Clean and nice booth and bar seating. The pepper shrimp were big and good portion. Chicken fried rice was fresh.

First time at this new location and I must say I am very impressed with how upscale the place is. I took my mom, wife and kids and there was something for everyone. Nice to have a Guyanese place that is not a rum shop but family friendly. Food is 10/10 looks great and tastes good also. Best spot in gta. Very pleasant and knowledgeable waitresses. The owners are young and know how to take care of their guest.

I was there last night for my birthday dinner with my family. The place is amazing. I love the music 🎶 also the food was great 👍 👌 10 out of 10 for me. I highly recommend this restaurant it's amazing. Staff was very nice and helpful also the owner was very friendly he welcomed us to his restaurant also I got a snap shot of tequila for my birthday 🎂 🥳 free of cost 😉.. cocktail is great too

Unparalleled in their friendliness and attentiveness. But let’s talk about the real stars of the show—the drinks and the food! The Bare Passion Margarita was a tropical delight, setting the tone for an unforgettable culinary journey. The Pepper Shrimp and Chicken Wings were the perfect starters. The freshness of the Hut Special fried rice with the homemade pepper sauce was so delicious! The fact that we drove an hour to get there speaks volumes, and I can’t wait to bring all my friends and family to experience the magic of Calypso Hut 1. If you’re looking for delicious food, friendly staff, and a modern twist on Caribbean cuisine, look no further—this place comes highly recommended! Five stars all the way!
