Calabash Caribbean Cuisine

Ron was such a treat!! My motto for Caribbean restaurants is usually “If the service is rude, you’ll love the food” but Ron and his food certainly changed my mind. The jerk chicken dinner was awesome, it reminded me of when my parents would take me to Jamaica every few years. The Caribbean flavour was so authentic, the meat was cooked to perfection, and I could not stop eating the rice and peas. The atmosphere in the restaurant was just like being in the Caribbean. If you ever want great Caribbean food or even just a chat with a wonderfully kind person, I would absolutely recommend stopping by Calabash!

I had dinner with a group of work colleagues at Calabash last night. Although it’s not a typical sit down restaurant, the owner, Ron, made it a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious and we felt as though we were visiting a good friend! We felt taken care of! Thank you, Ron!

Ron prepared some fabulous dishes for our work gathering and kindly made mixed plates to allow us to sample a couple of dishes. The oxtail was fabulous, and I also enjoyed the curried goat on rice. I was hesitant to try Caribbean cuisine, but now I'm a fan. Ron was a great host. The dine-in area was not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable for a tasty meal with friends.

We found Calabash on our first day of our trip to Canada. Ron, the owner of this 22 year old little restaurant, is a very warm and charming host. During my visit I could tell that a lot of the guests have visited Ron's place a long time. We had 2 dishes; Caribbean jerk chicken and oxtail. Both were served with rice stuffed with lentils and carrots. The chicken was super tender and coated in jerk seasoning. The oxtail came in a thick savory sauce. Both were delicious and the serving size were a bit big for my partner and me, so Ron packed the leftovers for us. Should we ever return to Mississauga, I'd like to visit Calabash again. Went there today - staff is very nice and friendly. I had the Jerk Chicken for lunch, take out. Absolutely delicious food, tastes home made. Will be coming back for more and to try out the rest!

The food here is absolutely delicious and the staff are welcoming and friendly especially Ron. I have been coming here for a long time and the food is always consistent and excellent tasting along with great portions. I definitely recommend Calabash for your next meal.

Customer service here is immaculate. Ordered a jerk chicken & oxtail. It was very flavourful & well seasoned. Just the right amount of spice. The oxtail doesn’t fall off the bone, however I don’t mind. Rice was delicious, & the gravy was delicious. Food was hot, and chicken was tender and juicy. Definitely a hidden gem right between Sheridan & clarkson. Will come again
