We had the French onion soup, beef bourguignon, and scallop risotto. Everything was very flavourful and filling. The restaurant has a great classic ambience and the server was very friendly. Would recommend!

I really love this French restaurant in the very heart of downtown. It is located on a low key street with many small restaurants and boutiques. Very close to the AGO and the UofT Campus. I’ve been here 15+ times over the past few years, each time receiving excellent service and food. No complaints. I love honestly love coming here. The restaurant has such a relaxed environment, not being too busy on most days. The selection of food and drinks is excellent, with many pizzas, salads, and French meat / seafood dishes such as liver, salmon and shrimp, and more. They also have a really good French onion soup and raspberry cheesecake. Prices are also very good, being about $18-25 for lunch entrées and $18-35 for dinner entrées. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you’re looking for somewhere low key and relaxed.

Have a good time at this restaurant the carrot and ginger soup was tasty. The fish, mushroom and mashed postatoes were well cook and delicious. The creme brulee was ok. The server was helpful and friendly. Look forward to go back and try other dishes in the menu.

The creme brulee was closer to scrambled eggs, chunky and watery. Mash potato was gummy and tasted way over seasoned. The baguette portion was 2 little bites. The seafood fettuccine had sandy mussels, tasted like sitting in an old hot kitchen. Also they forgot the scallops. Cafe la gag.

First the good - food was good (and as someone else mentioned wine from Chile was great, but creme brulee was only so-so), atmosphere was great, fresh flowers on tables was a nice touch. Not-so-good - service. Server brought us sugar, but no cream for our coffee. Also didn't notice the selection was mostly artificial with only two packets of real sugar left in the bowl. Then did the same by not bringing cutlery with our food because didn't notice we only had one set at the table. Kept disappearing too despite us being the only customers in the place so I had to physically get up to find them more than once. The most hilarious time was after we finished our mains. They came to remove our plates then never came back to ask if we wanted dessert or the bill!

Servers are very nice, but they don't have a clue about service. It doesn't matter, because the food is so good that you can forgive the mediocre service. The Cabernet Merlot from Chile isn't bad. We were shocked it came in a 1.5L bottle for only $45. Guests from a table beside ours couldn't finish theirs so they gave us the leftovers? I had the rack of lamb. Superbly cooked. The creme brulee for dessert was perfect. I found the French onion soup a bit greasy. I have had better. We'll definitely come back.

Great French bistro! We really enjoyed the food and server was very friendly. Food was very good and casual dining experience was great. Will go back for other items on the menu.

It's a nice little restaurant on Baldwin Street. It's not a fancy place, but it has a great value. Good and quick service. Spicy PEI mussels can be cooked in no spicy way as per customer's request, and the dish is very good. The grilled salmon is a simple dish that requires a lot of mastery to overcome all the competition. The chef at Cafe Le Gaffe does that. The balsamic vinegar glaze really add interesting notes to the taste. Although, veggies on the side were exactly the same as for the steak. But you cannot anticipate different side dishes at such price range, thus, I'm OK with that. The steak was good as well as deserts - we had a Creme Brulee and a lemon cheesecake with refreshingly sour raspberry jam. I would highly recommend this place, especially for their grilled salmon and mussels
