Tucked into the east end of Cedar Pointe Business Park, the Bull and Barrel Pub has been welcoming loyal locals, along with visitors from further afield for over 28 years. With our dark wood interior, cozy fireplace and brass fittings, it's easy to see why this place reminds many of the “local” they left back home. Our wide selection of imported and domestic beers, ales and great wines by the glass is available throughout the day to enjoy in front of a cozy fire during winter or on our sun-soaked patio in the summer. We are right at Hwy 400 & Dunlop St W. making us the perfect stop-off on your way up to cottage and ski country or on your way home to the city. Voted us Best Pub in Barrie two years in a row. Our server was everyone server as she was the only one on the bar and on the floor. A lovely young lady that served everyone with smiles and cheers.She definitely needed some help with bussing and cleanup. Whoever is in the kitchen preparing does not think that takeout deserves the same attention as eat in. I asked for a bowl of the daily soup to go and when I got home I had a half a bowl, not even a cup but I definitely paid for a bowl. Would love to share a picture but can't find the link to insert one.

Went here for the first time tonight on a whim for a birthday celebration dinner. Our waitress was so friendly and the food was delicious. Plus the prices were really reasonable. The vibes were so cozy & inviting, you really felt like you could be a pub in the UK. Loved it so much, we will be back & telling everyone we know to check it out.

Ended up here in an unplanned work outting. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, seating us at the bar with 0 resvation (during work Christmas dinner season) and then finding us a table. The live music was fun, and the staff were incredible. I'd definitely return and 100% recommend.

This was our 3rd time there in 7 years, which should tell you something. We were there trying the new 10$ menu which is a great bang for your buck! We walked in, were greeted immediately and shown to our table for two. We ordered pop and wings (4lbs=40$). The problem was that our sever must have forgotten there were 2 of us at the table! While waiting for our food my husbands pop was delightfully refilled without asking at the half way mark. I was asked nothing and brought nothing even though mine was half gone too. My husbands 3 lbs were brought and served to him while we then both waited patiently for mine. My 1 lb finally came out with no apology for tardiness. During the meal my husband was asked how his wings were and he said great. Mine were good too (but no one asked me). My husband is very old fashioned and was appalled by this treatment! When it came time, I asked for the bill. That's when it hit her...I was paying. Aside from tripping over herself verbally, she was 2.5. Her tip could have easily been double, as we enjoy being generous. Always make an effort to make eye contact and speak directly to all people in the party, because you NEVER know who you're serving😉.

****EDITED**** I used to visit the Bull & Barrel frequently (I live around the corner) and it used to be my go-to pub. The food is excellent, and the service used to be superb. And then.... The last two times I attempted to patronize this pub (accompanied by my fiancee), there were issues. Both times, almost a month and a half apart (and on a Saturday night), we were turned away. The first time, there was a private function (which wasn't advertised on their website or social media), and the staff were not apologetic at all. Having to walk home and grab my car to change plans on the fly almost ruined our evening. The second time, just last week, we arrived at the Bull & Barrel to find that there were two private parties going on, but we could "cram in over at the bar" between a throng of people. I mentioned that this was the second time, and there was no mention on the website or social media, and we were dismissed with a shrug. I am just shocked at how the staff don't seem to care anymore, and how a once great pub has now lost me as a customer. The most convenient, friendly pub is now inconvenient and not very friendly. We are very, very disappointed in the Bull & Barrel.

Cute little pub here in Barrie. I got the roast beef stuffed yorkie (pictured below) and a cold glass of Pinot Grigio that was a fantastic pairing. I love the atmosphere of the old Irish pubs and the gravy they used! I’ll be thinking about this meal for many weeks lol

Great atmosphere, great friendly staff and very fast service especially during the holiday season. Had the pigs in a blanket appetizer which I forgot to take a photo of. Was a bit different and I think hot sauce would have been better served with it rather than HP sauce. My main meal was the Red Wine Braised Short Rib with Pomegranate. This was really good and served with mashed potatoes and winter vegetables. Very very filling and the taste was wow!! For dessert had the Gingerbread Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was drizzled with Brandy sauce and had whip cream and a scoop of candy cane ice cream. It was a but heavy but that could because of the meal I just ate. The candy cane ice cream was really good. Overall a great experience with 4 out of 5 stars for the food. Reasonably priced I might add!
