Blue Claw Lobster Shack is a new restaurant in Toronto opened more than 6 months ago.

Canadian Lobster Shack - More than just lobster! The Lobster Shack is our way of bringing freshness from the East Coast. It stands as a portable outlet serving grab-and-go seafood snacks to customers. An epitome of lobster fishermen’s work station on the shore, the shack storefront, with its characteristic blue colour and pointy gables, is home to our passion for better seafood and our mission for a bluer ocean.

One of my favorite spots downtown for North American style seafood is Lobster Burger Bar, but unfortunately as it's a proper sit-down restauraunt, the line ups and reservation wait can be a bit tedious (but hat's off to their success). Enter Blue Claw Lobster Shack, which is actually run by the same people! There's been a few times where I wanted a lobster roll to go, and very few (if any) places downtown offer this, but Blue Claw has you covered. It's a take-out style restauraunt with limited seating but a pretty decent menu. Whether it be lobster mac and cheese, fish burgers, or various seafood burgers/rolls, if you're in the mood for shellfish (or fish) to go, BCLS is the place to go!

Barrington roll and fries tasted decent, but service was really slow. I came in at 3pm on Sunday, and there were only 5 people dining in including myself, but I had to wait half an hour for my food. Takeout orders probably slowed service down, but half an hour was really long, considering the “fast food” serve-yourself setup. I counted 6 staff members, so not sure why it was this long.

I came here a couple months back, I had the the Halifax burger with tar tar sauce. It was fresh. For me it was a 3.5 for my wife a 4.5. Came to $16.82 (15% tip included) You’ll probably love it if you’re into seafood. Staff not overly pleasant, but still polite. Came in 09/17/24 to try the Moncton burger with truffle fries and coke. Came to $20.72 (15% tip included) The staff reminded me of the walking dead. Zero personality, zero energy and I felt unwelcome, much like last time. Moncton burger was mostly bun, very little fish fillet. It was so strange I took a bite then my next bite was all bun. Incredibly cheap serving for the price. It tasted no better than a McDonalds fish fillet, except McDonald’s is half the price with twice the amount of fish, no exaggeration. Fries were fries. Nothing to write home about. Last time I’ll come here.

I tried the lobster tots and the East Coast classic lobster roll. I appreciated the generous amount of lobster in both dishes, but I felt the lobster could have used a bit more flavor to really shine. The service was quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. On the plus side, the ambiance was pretty decent, offering a comfortable setting for the meal. Overall, while the portions were satisfying, faster service and more flavorful lobster would enhance the experience. Still, it's a decent spot for lobster lovers.

Visited this place today been wanting to go for a while! Interior was white and blue looks pretty clean but the table I was at had some crumbs on the seats. Ordered the East Coast Classic Roll and it was perfect. 👌🏼 LOTS of lobster meat and the roll was crunchy and so buttery ❤️ Would want to try the chowder and Halifax Burger next time!

Affordable lobster rolls with decent quality & taste. I have tried the East Coast classic roll (had the most lobster meat), the Seaside Sensation roll (shrimp + lobster), and the Large lobster tots. I find the seasoning and flavour mild, and the seafood relatively fresh. Given the price, it is more affordable than seafood stores in St Lawerence Market. The staffs are helpful and the store environment is warmly-lit and clean. I recommend this place if you are trying seafood rolls for the first time and want something affordable.

Blue Claw Lobster Shack, nestled at 25 Charles St East, has been gracing us with its presence for a few months now. They've worked out all the kinks, and let me tell you, there's no better time to dive into their famous lobster roll. First off, you can't miss this place – the exterior is as loud as a rock concert. And yes, "Blue" is their colour. It's a bit unusual for a restaurant, but somehow it works. You’ll feel like you’re entering to a lively blue ocean. The interior is simple and charming. It's not a massive place, but it's cozy with a standing area, perfect for a quick bite. As Blue Claw rookies, we asked the staff for recommendations. Without missing a beat, they suggested the "East Coast Classic Roll" with mayo, lemon, and black pepper. Oh. My. Lobster. It was absolutely incredible! The lobster meat from Canada's east coast was fresh, juicy, and plentiful, all nestled in a soft roll. We decided to upgrade our fries to seafood chowder. It was smooth and tasty, but we felt it was missing something – like, where’s the lobster? Turns out, lobster in the chowder is an add-on. No biggie, but it would be nice if they made this clear on the menu or offered two versions of the chowder: one with lobster and one without. We eventually tried the one with lobster, and it was amazing. Our only complaint? The paper cup was too small. LOL. But the ingredients were totally wholesome. The blue sparkling lemonade was another interesting treat. Unlike other fast food joints, the staff here can adjust the sweetness to your liking. Great customer service! Overall, our tummies were quite happy, and the staff were awesome. It’s so nice to have a taste of the ocean without trekking to Maine or Boston. Blue Claw Lobster Shack, you’ve got our seal of approval!

Food: 3 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 3 Stars Overall: 3 Stars I ordered takeout at Blue Claw Lobster Shack, enticed by its reputation for fresh seafood and hoping for a delightful culinary experience. Unfortunately, my visit fell short of expectations in several ways. Firstly, the lobster portion was surprisingly small for the amount charged. As a seafood enthusiast, I was looking forward to savoring a generous serving of lobster, but the portion size left much to be desired. Given the premium price, this was quite disappointing and left me feeling that the meal was not good value for money. The clam chowder, while initially promising with its rich aroma, turned out to be more of a potato soup. There were noticeably more potatoes than clams, which detracted from the overall flavor and enjoyment of the dish. A better balance of ingredients would have greatly improved the experience. On the positive side, the atmosphere at Blue Claw Lobster Shack was pleasant. The decor was charming, and the overall ambiance was inviting, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. However, the service did not stand out. While the staff were courteous, the level of attentiveness and efficiency was just average. There was no special effort to make the dining experience exceptional or memorable. In conclusion, while Blue Claw Lobster Shack has the potential to be a top-notch seafood destination, it currently falls short in a few critical areas. The small lobster portions and clam chowder imbalance, coupled with merely okay service, make it hard to justify the high prices. I believe that with some adjustments, particularly in portion sizes and ingredient balance, the restaurant could offer a much better dining experience. kellychan360
