The Bahn Mis here are super flavourful and delicious. Photos don't do it justice! I had the opportunity to try the Betel Beef Bahn and Sweet Pork Summer Roll. Both flavourful and juicy and fairly generous in size. The store owner was very friendly and helpful with describing the menu and recommending items based on the preferences. The shop itself is a little hidden down some steps but worth the visit if you're in the area.

Ordered the bo la lot sandwich. The service was nice and the order was prepared quickly. Sandwich was large and very full, with that sterotypically crumbly and crunchy baguette bread. Toppings were generous, but I think when I chose jalapeno as my spice level, it needed more. Everything tasted great. When I order bo la lot at a pho place, it is ground meat - like a meatball - grilled in a betel leaf. This was closer to strips of thin beef, wrapped in the leaf and grilled, so it didn't taste the same as the bo la lot I was excited to eat. I would order this sandwich again, though, and I will return to try other items on the menu.

I ordered two “snack size” banh mis on Uber eats (which was actually just two halves of one sandwich bringing the total cost of one to $10 plus tax/fees and tips). The flavor of the fillings was very good, their packaging is really cute, and the cross section of the sandwich was beautiful. That being said, the baguette was completely scooped out so that it was only the crust left. I understand the point was to make more room for the fillings, but it was done so cleanly that there was not a single bite of fluffy bread left. On top of that, the hollowed out crust of the baguette was toasted so dry that it shattered into crumbs with every bite. It was incredibly messy and felt like eating banh mi filling wrapped in crackers. I think this place has potential because the ingredients and flavor were good, albeit overpriced. If I ever try it again, I would get one of their menu items with rice/noodles or a different kind of bread.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! OG Banh Mi - an unexpectedly delicious Banh Mi that I'd rate higher than other places in Chinatown. Immediately the aroma of freshly baked bread hits your olfactory senses with an addicting, slightly dangerous amount of crisp in the baguette whose fragrance is accentuated with the addition of sesame seeds. Portions were quite generous too, not skimping on any of the cold cuts or chicken liver pate. With the addition of the pickled veggies, cucumber, cilantro, mayo, and soy sauce, it just made for an unbelievably yummy bite that one sandwich didn't feel like enough.

A get your food an go kind of place. There is no seating inside, just a long counter. I got the OG and it was really good. This is the first banh mi place I’ve been to where I asked for hot and it had a good amount of heat. As well as one of the few Asian restaurants where I did not get asked “are you sure” when I asked for it to be hot. So kudos to them. This is the only Banh Mi place I’ve been to in the Toronto area so I can’t speak to how it stacks up against others locally, but as a whole I thought it was one of the better Banh Mi sandwiches I’ve had, and I really appreciated that there is a snack size option. I’d recommend Banh Haus if you’re visiting the area, and if I lived around there I would absolutely go again to try more of their other options.

BEST Banh Mi I’ve had in Toronto hands down! The Bubble Tea here is also phenomenal - great little restaurant, great atmosphere and the staff member was really nice! Must visit if you’re in Toronto.

I tried a lot of their items and they were the best I've tried in town. Although this place serves a modern take on Vietnamese street food, the flavours are still authentic and not "confused" like other fusion places I've tried. The decor also embraces their beautifully made food. Stepping into the store is like a merge between street food Vietnam and a modern Toronto cafe. Here are my recommendations: - Bánh tiêu (fried donut) with sweet pork sausage: creative and delicious! - OG bánh mì: can never go wrong with this one! - Pho Ever Banh mi: the onions went really well with the banh mi. The soup was aromatic and had that depth of flavour. The herbs were also very authentic! - fried Chicken Bao: oh my god the chicken was seasoned well and not dry even after reheating it the next day. The bao had the perfect hint of sweetness and was very fluffy! - Shrimp taco: for the price you're paying in this economy, 2 tiger shrimps for that price is fair! Very well seasoned with authentic viet herbs too! - Rice with grilled beef wrapped in betal leaves: reminded me of home so much! The portions are also HUGEEE The service is also extremely welcoming and sweet. Their hospitality brings the meal towards another level. Do give this place a try!

Banh Haus is an amazing hidden gem just off of Dundas in Chinatown serving epic Vietnamese street eats with a twist. It's a takeout spot with a few signature low stools out front, a familiar sight for those who have visited Vietnam. Service was friendly. The space is clean but there's no accessible entrance. The banh tieu (Vietnamese donut) sandwich is a bit of a rarity here so I had to try it. You get your choice of a five-spice or lemongrass thick cut pork chop which is grilled to order. Paired with a homemade pâté, cucumbers, pickled carrots & daikon, cilantro, mayo and hot sauce (optional). The pork was cooked really well but wish it had more lemongrass flavour. I personally prefer a more punchy do Chua (pickled carrots & daikon) with stronger sweetness and sourness. The bottom of the banh tieu also got rather greasy. I otherwise really enjoyed this sandwich. The pâté was notably delicious, the portion is large and everything tasted fresh. The iced coffee was also great. It was appropriately strong and had a good condensed milk sweetness to balance out the strong coffee.
