I spent $18 to buy this meal, and what I got back was 2 burned grilled spring rolls. And a spring roll that looks like it was made a long time ago. Really disappointed.

The food is really authentic. The staff can be more friendly but definitely what is expected for local place

Always been a big fan of rice rolls and squid cakes, however I'm always hesitant to come back. First, staff is not properly trained, no smiling, no greeting and weird attitude (I'm Viet and I speak Viet). Secondly, considering the place is small, it's so unnecessary to bang on the kitchen bell twice every minute, just like someone honking at you while driving. Lastly, sanitary level is horrendous, prob the worst of all the Viet joints I have been to, smelly rags to clean table, moldy sauce container and grimy washroom floor made it such an appalling experience.

Food: 2 Stars Service: 1 Stars Ambience: 1 Stars Value: 1 Stars Overall: 1.25 Stars I visited Banh Cuon Huong Que with my parents, hoping to enjoy a nice meal together, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had anticipated. We decided to try the pho, a dish that typically embodies the comforting flavours of Vietnamese cuisine. However, upon tasting it, we were immediately struck by how salty it was. It was evident that the broth had been loaded with MSG, which completely overpowered the natural flavours. Instead of the light, aromatic broth we expected, we were met with a dish that felt artificially seasoned and far too intense. This made the meal quite unpleasant, as the pho lacked the delicate balance that usually defines this beloved dish. The disappointing food was further compounded by the service we received. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff's attentiveness was lacking. We had to wait an unusually long time to place our order, and throughout the meal, it felt like we were an afterthought. While I understand that restaurants can be busy, there was no effort made to acknowledge the delay or check in on us during our meal. This lack of attention really detracted from the dining experience, as we were hoping for a welcoming atmosphere where we could enjoy our time together as a family. Given these issues, it's difficult to find any positives to highlight about our visit. On top of this we sat near the window and the seating was very uncomfortable and awkward. The combination of underwhelming food and poor service left us thoroughly disappointed. Dining out is often about more than just the food; it's also about the experience, and unfortunately, Banh Cuon Huong Que failed to deliver on both fronts. We had hoped for a warm, enjoyable meal, but instead, we left feeling dissatisfied and unlikely to return. While I believe in giving places a fair chance, the significant flaws in both the food and service make it hard to justify a second visit. We won’t be coming back to Banh Cuon Huong Que, as our experience was simply not up to par. For those considering a visit, I would recommend tempering your expectations, especially if you are particular about the quality of pho or attentive service. There are many other spots that offer a more balanced and satisfying dining experience, and I would suggest exploring those options instead. kellychan360

Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! Banh Cuon Dac Biet - Rice rolls were decently filled for Toronto standards with minced pork, woodear. Rice rolls were slightly chewy and provides a nice, smooth texture that also clings on the fish sauce pretty well. The wrapper was thin where there was filling, but was thick on the ends of the roll. Fish sauce is slightly sweet and not very pungent. Comes with about 8 pieces. On the bottom are three slices of reg. viet sausage, and three slices of cinnamon sausage. Fried squid cakes are fragrant and slightly on the oily side, but tastes great. Springiness of the fish cake and crisp bounciness of the squid. Comes with a generous portion of steamed bean sprouts, shredded cabbage and some thinly sliced pickled carrots, along with 2 slices of cucumber

Wife took me to this spot for Banh Cuon. I didn't have it in Vietnam so I didn't know what to expect in terms of authenticity. She made it before so I had some idea. But the banh cuon here was amazing! She admits this spot does it better than her, but she is still learning. We didn't have anything else just the banh cuon dac biet and it came out quick! I cleaned that dish so quickly that I was tempted to steal from her plate.

Casual Vietnamese restaurant to grab a quick meal. It was surprisingly very busy on a weekday for lunch with all tables filled, but we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The squid cakes that came with the banh cuon were very good! The only thing I would comment on is that the bathrooms could be a little cleaner. There was also almost no toilet paper in them.
