Food was not good at all. Chicken really dry and tough. Jollof had no flavour. Really disappointing. Not worth the price due to lack of quality and small portion size.

We called this restaurant before making the trip to confirm if the chef was truly Nigerian, as we know Nigerian chefs cook with passion and take pride in their craft. Unfortunately, the receptionist we spoke with was neither polite nor knowledgeable about the food preparation. Still, since the place came recommended by a friend, we decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival, we noticed that the food prices posted online didn’t match the prices on the printed menu. To make matters worse, the server seemed inexplicably busy, despite the fact that we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. We placed our order at the cashier counter and then sat at a table, only to wait 40 minutes for two meals—Efo Riro soup and Ewedu soup with swallow. The Efo Riro was an absolute disaster, served with raw chicken, while the Ewedu soup came with tough, oven-roasted chicken that could easily pass as a sledgehammer. When we brought this to the server’s attention, she offered to replace the meal, but things took a turn for the worse when the rude manager—who might as well have been running a workshop instead of a kitchen—came out. She escalated the situation instead of resolving it and refused to issue an apology or a refund for what was undoubtedly the worst meal we’ve ever had at a Nigerian restaurant in Toronto. To top it all off, the washroom was a complete mess, as though someone had decided to take a shower there. This entire experience was beyond disappointing. If you decide to dine there just know it's at your own risk, good luck!

The best Nigerian restaurant in GTA. The food is amazing. They have the best Puff-Puff. Satisfactory customer service. Would definitely visit again.

The portion was too small for the price, and the food only tasted okay. I spent $50, but the pounded yam was only the size of a golf ball. Delivery included, this was not worth it. I won't be ordering from this place again.

African food with a homemade feel. Ameen’s kitchen is cooking up delicious African meals right in the heart of Cookstown. I have been back multiple times and would recommend trying them out. Their Egusi stew is flavourful and delicious and paired with the amala makes a great swallow meal. They know how to fry some good turkey too! I also tried their croaker fish, its not my favourite fish to eat, but they did a good job with the spices and cooking. I haven’t had much jolof rice, but theirs had a nice smokey flavour to it. They are a bit expensive, but worth it to savour these delicacies. Their location is a bit hard to access by foot as the street construction has been going on out front for a while, but there is plenty of parking on the side for the mall they are attached to.

In the past I have had little issues with Ameens kitchen but this time I had to just leave a review because this is just sad. I ordered 3 ofada/ayamase sauce this week and all 3 of them had just 1 egg each and just 3 extremely tiny piece of beef tripe (shaki) and beef skin(kpomo) mixed. I fail to understand how this is 20 dollars each it’s just very sad

I’ve dined in, done take out and also delivery… The food is fantastic! I would recommend delivery or take out, essentially because the restaurant has a “bukka” look and feel about it, if that’s something you like, you might want to dine in. It reminds me of affordable places where you would eat in Nigeria during your lunch break. I would also recommend a 45 minute notice period for delivery and pick up. Lastly, the staff are also very friendly.

Terrible!!! Burnt up food. Pics dont lie folks. Have a look. My whole house smelt like burnt food -- lingering! Terrible experience. Never again. Ordered from Skip the Dishes They only gave me half my money back. I asked for a full refund considering I provided pics and didnt eat this terrible food which was supposed to be Nigerian Jolllof. I love Skip the Dishes but they were flat our wrong for not giving me back all my money on this dish from hell. Folks stay clear of Ameens Kitchen. LOOK AT MY PICS!!!!. I took one fork full of rice and I can still feel the burnt flavor as I type in my chest. Stay clear!!!!!
