Follow @bredgyeats for more food pictures! It's not just some supermarket trick, they really pile on the thick cuts of fatty salmon on top of the sweet sushi rice. The salmon tastes super fresh with a distinct buttery salmon aroma - truly a step above your average salmon sushi. Topped with some wasabi, tobiko, tempura bits and ginger, this bowl doesn't need much to highlight the fish's natural flavours.

The food was truly good and fresh. One of the best bowls we tried in the city.

If you’re looking for a breakdown of how good the Donburi is compared to other places… look to a different review lol. There’s actually very insightful reviews about this place, and it’s what got me to try this place. My review is purely based on what I ordered and how my stay was. Got the classic Salmon Don and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m bias cause I love salmon and salmon sashimi, but I also know what good and bad salmon tastes like, and this one was good. Honestly, as much as the salmon was good, the rice with the sauce, MMM. It was so good by itself too, but then paired with the salmon, my mouth waters thinking about it. I even ate all the wasabi and ginger too lol. On top of all that, you can doodle on sticky notes and post it on their wall, which at first feels kinda gimicky, but then again, I drew something and posted it haha. Staff were lovely, s/o the chefs. Anyway, I’d love to bring close friends to this spot if I’m ever in the area again.

Food – We visited specifically for their donburi, and the Salmon was the clear standout for us. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any other seafood options, which was a bit disappointing. While the other donburi dishes were decent, in our opinion, none quite matched the quality of the Salmon. Service – The staff were professional and friendly—no complaints at all! Ambiance – The interior was clean, though the seating was a bit tight, but manageable. It's also conveniently located near the subway, making it easy to access. Overall – Worth a visit, especially if you're a fan of Salmon donburi!

First time try this place out after so many times walk by it. Absolutely a hidden gem in Toronto. Cheap price comes with a huge portion. Recommend to anyone live in this area.

This is hands down one of the best dons I’ve had in the city! The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh and generously portioned, and all the other ingredients tasted amazing too. For $14.99 plus tax, you also get a complimentary miso soup that’s both heartwarming and delicious. You’ll leave the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. The space is a bit tight and I believe it can fit a maximum of five people, but overall, I highly recommend Aki.

Atmosphere and service was wonderful. I ordered the “Salmon-Don”, the salmon was very fresh and is the only points i can give. Unfortunately the whole dish was ruined by the wasabi. The sauce souped the rice entirely, in which it was very inedible. I burned my nose multiple times from the intensity of the wasabi it that it wasn’t enjoyable in sense or flavour. Very sad as everything else was potentially great quality and flavour, Please ask for no wasabi sauce that it comes with (there is no mention of warning of the sauce.)

I got the butadon which comes with freshly made pork stir fried on the spot over rice with pickled onions and jalapeños. The dish was a good portion for one person to feel full and satisfied. It also comes with a side of miso and an extra/bonus candy. The flavours are on the simple side so it would probably suit most people's taste/palate. 6.9/10 The place had minimal interior decorations. The entrance is a little raised, so be careful when entering. There are only a few seats available (3-4), so I recommend just ordering food for takeout.
