A really sane and wonderful place to have great Ethiopian food we stopped visiting our fave when it turned out to be so busy that the noise and the lack of service ... WE are delighted to have discovered this little gem!! Our party was of three we always order a vegetarian platter and a meat platter, the lamb was superbly seasoned and tender, the beef eaters were super happy I would have like the njera tangier and I hope for this on our next time, the ambience is easy on the ears and no huge TV blasting, although they do have a bar give it a try!

Very disappointing! The food came cold. When we returned it. They warmed it up in the microwave and returned with parts eaten that we sent back. Looks good when it arrives but is COLD!! After speaking to the manager she got upset with no attempt to rectify the situation at the end. I will be reporting this to the city as cold food including meat that came cold when you bite into it is unacceptable.

Delicious, authentic Ethiopian food. Vegan friendly but they aren’t currently doing the all you can eat vegan buffet.

Very delicious Ethiopian food both Vegetarian and meat options. The quality of the ingredients was very good and the service was very friendly. No fuss neighborhood setting and the alcohol is also priced well. We ordered a vegetarian platter for 2 and one lamb tibs. We had this for 4 people and it was great quantity. Highly recommend for a good quality Ethiopian food.

You should try this place. I never tried Ethiopian cuisine before and I was pleasantly surprised! I would say Ethiopian food is an under appreciated cuisine in Toronto! The waitress, Zemen (sorry if I got it wrong), did amazing suggestions for us first timers. She is very sweet, warm, and pleasant. She explained some of the Ethiopian ways and tradition which made the experience even better. We ordered meat platter, vegetarian platter, and one chicken dish. And it was actually more than enough for us, 4 hungry tummies. I can taste and feel that the meat and vegetables are fresh and has no extenders. The bread (called Injera) itself is tasty, it has a surprise sour kick which fits right with the meat and vegetables. There is also a salad in the middle that goes well with the bread or you can eat by yourself. There's a bit of spice, Jamaicanish and Indianish flavor in the food. We also ordered their coffee ceremony which also has unique toasted and chocolatey taste. And comes with smokey incense. The incense has a shisha-ish feel but you don't smoke it like shisha. They served the coffee after the meal. Maybe you should tell the waitress in advance if you want to drink coffee before eating. The experience is amazing. It feels like I got to experience a bit of Ethiopian culture through the food and coffee. The food was presented intimately. The four of us shared in a huge plate and ate with our hands, like a boodle fight. The coffee comes with a popcorn which is again presented in an intimate way. The place is a usual small Toronto restaurant, but we sat on one of the colorful couch. It has a soft and easy music which brings a cozy touch on the place. Cost is around 12-20 per dish. The bill for us 4 is around 100, including tip. Can't say it's a cheap restaurant, but it's definitely worth it. Abyssinia represented Ethiopian cuisine very well and it left a good impression for me and my friends. I would 100% suggest Abyssinia Ethiopian restaurant to my family and friends.

Tried Ethiopian food for the first time and it was DELICIOUS! The server recommended some great options, the portions were huge, and the food was perfection. I think I just found my new favourite cuisine!

A vibrant authentic Ethiopian restaurant I ever tried in 5 years in Canada. Indulge yourself into the irresistible and distinctive cuisine ❤️ You don’t want to miss the original Ethiopian coffee (This is a whole different level). Already in love with this spot, and there’s lots of gluten free options. 😋

Went to Danforth location. The food was ok. Nothing special. Portions small. Prices high. Service slow. Took long time for the food to arrive and it was not busy. Multiple times had to ask for water refill.
