A Dark Horse

Great all around, from the food to the outdoor seating. The staff was great. Fries were super salty tho and too much for my palette but otherwise left feeling very A+'d.

We were at the restaurant once for take out for my daughter and then then we decided to end our evening , on Sunday at the Ukrainian festival. My daughters love the chicken fingers and fries there and the portions and price are always great, so we went ther! My 2 daughter and their cousin all order chicken fingers and fries, the meal comes and one of my daughters say to me and show me 2 chicken fingers that would kind of make up one. I nicely tried to tell and explain this to the waiter and be seemed annoyed with me telling him this. I understand it was a busy weekend with the festival going on, but I was really taking it back and then asked him would you not have spoken up and he said no I actually wouldn’t have. With the cost of everything now, I don’t think I was in the wrong for expressing this, but we felt very in the wrong for doing this . You did later bring one more chicken finger for my daughter, but never came back to check on us and we were wanting more water and we just let it go. Unfortunately, the only way to show him the way he treated us was to leave a very minimal tip and that’s not like us, but it was the only way to show that you can’t talk to customers like that. We live in the neighbourhood and we’ve popped in from time to time to pick up chicken fingers and fries for our kids and we’ve never experienced. Anyone treat us like that and like I said before the portions were always great. I do realize it as a kids menu, but I looking at the photos here I hope you can understand why we spoke up, I just felt need to put in a review. We were there for takeout Friday evening, and everyone is lovely to us

Strange Fish tacos. Essentially, just a frozen fish stick on a tortilla with some slaw and bland aoli. Extra strange, because they do have good pub style fish and chips here. Otherwise, decent place.

My husband and I have stopped at A Dark Horse a couple times, each time being better than the last. Their food is amazing - simple pub dishes, but made well. Service is incredible. We will be coming back :)

Place looks like a typical pub. But when I entered, inside smelled kind of something like a wet fish. Maybe better to sit outside, but it was raining when we were here.

I came here for lunch with my co-workers and we sat on the patio. It was a very sunny day, and I happened to sit right between the shades. I didn't mind, but I was quite warm by the end of our gathering. I didn't order much, but what I had was delicious. I ordered a Shirley Temple to drink and the Coconut Shrimps to eat. The pineapple sauce complimented the shrimp well. Overall, I had a good time. I would come back here to try their burgers and fries next time as most of my co-workers ordered that to eat.

We went there for dinner on a quiet evening. There were maybe 3-4 occupied tables on the patio. The place was almost empty. We were served our food fairly quickly. However afterwards nobody came to check on our food. The wings were luke warm, served with two carrot sticks and two celery sticks. The dip was terrible. I could not eat it at all. At the end of the meal, when we were still eating, the server finally came up and asked us how we would like to pay! We did not finish yet, but were already rushed out. I asked for take out container and she brought it together with the payment machine. I complained about the wings and was given a discount of $1.8. There were many tables still empty, so why we were pushed out, I had no idea. It felt unnecessary and rude. I would never go back there

Not your average pub food !!! Super tasty and fresh ! Love the fact that the chefs add fresh sprouts!! And serve what you think is typical pub favourites but with a fresh and tasty ‘option’ - cauliflower bites are the best in the city!!!! Friendly staff makes this a return visit!!
