知味煲仔饭 (Yonge) Good Taste Casserole Rice

Visited due to positive reviews from various reviews in the community. They offer Cantonese style rice noodle rolls and casserole (claypot) rice dishes which are freshly made in house. Their rice noodle rolls are made from freshly made rice milk which gives it a smoother texture and helps it with taste. The portion size is decent and is also shareable. Their casserole rice dishes come with your choice of meat or seafood, or as part of selected combinations. Each rice dish comes with a side of vegetables and is freshly made which is why it comes out longer than the rice noodle roll dishes. One of their recommended selections is their Four Treasures which comes with a mix of grilled eel, BBQ Pork and assorted preserved meat. The downside is that it can be a bit salty for those who do not normally eat preserved meat, but overall the meal is worth the value. One casserole rice dish is filling alone. Recommended as a fair value meal in the Yonge-Empress area for Cantonese food as most items were around $15 at most (rice noodle rolls were at most $7.50).

My friend and I went to the North York area (the middle meeting point for both of us), where we stumbled upon this restaurant. Felt a bit like home, so I was already finding comfort regardless of what they were serving. I believe that majority of the dishes are Rice Bowls, so don't be expecting substitutes or anything like that! The Chicken was good, decent, and left me feeling satisfied. We waited for about five minutes, as the restaurant is not that big, but it goes to show that it's a popular spot to get a well cooked meal.

Cant have good rice with induction cooker Mediocre for me yet I like veggies that came along with pot rice, not overcook Cheese rice noodle roll tastes good ( not expected as we just order for fun)

Somehow, I like the casserole rice here more in its takeout form than in person, which was disappointing. The takeout version is absolute perfection - honestly I was shocked how crispy they were able to get the rice. It is also piping hot when it arrives, due to the way they pack it. I ate here in person for the first time, and even though we were one of two groups of customers, it still took an absurd amount of time for our food to arrive. It was also really oily, especially the veggies. The rice still tasted good, but I found it even harder to remove from the casserole pot than the aluminum takeout container. Overall, the price and taste is still good. For around $12.99, you get a hearty delicious meal and a can of pop.

Why can’t we have this kind of tasty food in my area in the United States? Our clay pot rice was so delicious and cheap. I suggest you try Chinese sausage and Charsiu combo as well as salted fish and minced pork combo.

Bare bones restaurant for very good clay pot rice at a super reasonable price ($13-14) We had the four treasures rice which had preserved meats, and the salted fish/chicken rice - both came with a side of vegetables. Wouldn't recommend the rice noodle rolls. We got the shrimp ones for $6 and it's just regular rice noodle rolls with a handful of shrimp tossed on top. But the casseroles were great and I want to try more of them.

We like the food, the service and the atmosphere could improve. The rice was good; I would like to try the sticki rice next time. The chicken feet are too sweet, same for the sausage.

Aptly named the four treasures rice, this rice casserole dish comes with BBQ eel, pork, preserved duck and Chinese sausages which are all jam-packed with umami that goes perfectly with rice. Cooked with a layer of oil being streamed down the sides of the bowl in pursuit of a crispy crust on the edges of the rice, this portion took on a slight yellowing colour that makes the rice more fragrant and is served with a side of Gai Lan. For health. The rice flour rolls were cooked nicely for a smooth, velvety texture with the fragrance of an egg and crisp shrimp that were seasoned perfectly.
